Terms of use

This site sells nothing, asks you for nothing, and has nothing for you to sign up to. So these terms are short. They are here because you are entitled to know what you are reading and what you may do with it.

Use it at your own risk

Reading this site is your decision and what you do next is your decision. You are welcome to use anything here, and you use it at your own risk.

Nothing here is guaranteed to be right

The pages are written carefully and every claim about the condition is tied to a named source. That is a method, not a promise. This site does not warrant that what you read is right, complete, or current, and by the time you read it, it may be none of those.

Each page shows when it was last checked. When a page is past due for another look, it says so on the page. Nobody has to notice first.

It is education, not advice

That line is not a formality, and it does more work than any other sentence here. This site explains a condition and gives you words to take to a clinician. It does not tell you what to do to your own body, it cannot tell you what you have, and it is not a substitute for someone who has examined you. Nothing here is a reason to wait before getting care.

You may reuse the text

Everything written on this site is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. You may copy it, translate it, print it, or hand it out. You may quote it in a leaflet or build on it, including commercially. The one condition is credit: say where it came from and link back.

The licence is deliberate. This material is more useful spread than owned, and it means the pages survive if this site does not.

Links to other places

Some pages link out — to a study, a health service, or a patient organisation. A link means the source is worth reading, not that this site vouches for everything on it. Nothing at the other end is under this site's control and it can change without notice.

Corrections and takedown

If a page is wrong, use the contact route and say what is wrong and where. Do the same if something here belongs to you and should not be published. That is the fastest way to get a page changed. Corrections are made on the page itself, and you need no permission to quote or reuse the text under the licence above.

These terms can change

They will change when the site does. There is no notification list to join, so the date is the signal. The foot of this page shows when it was last checked. The current version is always the one you are reading.
